Michael Tougias
Michael Tougias, a NY Times Bestselling author, offers exciting slide lectures based on his books that transport students into adventure. He also provides his audience with tips and motivation involving research, writing and editing. By working with Holt and McMillan Publishers, Tougias has a version of his six survival & rescue books for every age (chapter book, middle reader book, and adult). The series is called "The True Rescue Series" and it includes, The Finest Hours (now a Disney movie), A Storm Too Soon (a Scholastic and Junior Literary Guild selection), In Harms Way: The Sinking of the USS Indianapolis and Into the Blizzard (the middle reader version of his national bestseller about a sea rescue during the Blizzard of 1978).
Tougias uses humor, candor and edge-of-your-seat storytelling to inspire students to make sound decisions and to excel in their writing projects. Besides the True Rescue Series, Tougias also offers a presentation on Quabbin Reservoir, his fiction book Claws, and King Philip’s War, covering the period of 1620-1675, from the Mayflower to the war.
