The Shapeshifter Residency- Native American Story, Mime, and Movement
Students will join Leland Faulkner and learn about indigenous culture and the spirit of Native American values by interpreting artistic elements of First Nations culture.This includes totems, animals, mythologies, and craft.
Collaborating with Leland, their peers, and their teachers, participants in this residency will embody stories, characters, choreographies and mimes representative of the many Indigenous cultures across North America. Learning goals include positive social interaction, emotional learning, creative physical expression, internal timing, listening skills, and appropriate responsive action. This residency offers students a direct experience of the power and beauty of Native American history, music, art, and literature through movement and story.
This program is a great way to extend, and deepen the arts learning after a performance of Leland Faulkner's Walker Between Worlds

Minimum of 2 workshops per day
2 Workshops: $550
Additional or Post Performance Workshops: $220
Residency Workshops: $175-275
Planning fee based upon scope of residency.
Materials Fee: $5-10 per student
Travel: $150 per day
Pricing may vary for weekends/out-of-school time
Processing Fee of $45 added to all contracts
Provisions:
- A teacher in the room to support artist and address student needs.
- An open area like a gym or shaded outdoor space.
- If a stage/cafetorium is available that would be functional if the tables are put away and the main floor space is open (classes are divided into groups that work in various parts of the space)
- Seven chairs
- A standard outlet for electrical power
- Water for the artist.
