West African Dance Workshop
In addition to African dance performances, the Bamidele Dancers & Drummers offer several hands-on workshops that allow students and teachers to integrate West African, Brazilian and Caribbean culture into their classroom. In this dance workshop, accompanied by a live drummer, students will practice movements from a dance or two of celebration of life from West Africa and a song for the particular dance they are taught. They will learn that every dance in Africa is done for a specific occasion and has its own movements that tell a story, its own song, rhythm, and instrumentation.
