Leland Faulkner
Beginning with movement theatre and evolving through new vaudeville and performance art, Leland Faulkner was trained in the old world tradition of master and apprentice. He is a professionally trained film maker, mime, actor, and director. Leland studied with a variety of distinguished teachers, including: Tony Montanaro, Jacques Lecoq, and theatre masters from Italy and Japan. With a vision dedicated to the necessity of make-believe and the ability of theatre to be a universal art, Leland continually searches for entertaining and meaningful theatre. His work has gained acclaim both at home and abroad. Paper becomes filled with movement and mystery, as origami butterflies appear to dance and multiply, or shadows seem imbued with a life of their own in an astonishing exploration of light manipulated with just a pair of hands.

He CRUSHED it!
So good. And for the first time in over two years children gathered in community to become one.
Our first assembly was joyous!
As a 4th grade teacher I found [Walker Between Worlds] to be extremely valuable and relevant for my students. Not only does the program bring awareness to Native American culture, but it also aligns and adds to our studies of California
history as part of the 4th grade curriculum and standards. As Mr. Faulkner progressed through the program, students were engaged and captivated with the legends he shared through spoken word. I have never seen students so drawn in by a presenter who was solely using words as his medium. It was refreshing to see students engaged through the power of words and voice.
I truly hope that the Walker Between Worlds program and Mr. Faulkner can continue to share this experience with students for years to come.
Today our class attended the Walker Between Worlds Assembly. It was amazing! He started off by telling us that the Native Americans all spoke different languages, but that speaking with their hands was something that they all had in common. He proceeded to tell us some of the Native American legends. The students were enthralled. The way he used his hands, body, and facial expressions made the stories come alive. My students were excited and talked about the experience as we walked back to the classroom. A favorite part was the magic trick with the feathers at the end.
I have to thank you for the study guide too. I’ve looked it over. It is very well written. I will be going on Amazon today to purchase the book, Rainbow Crow. The study guide is aligned to the Common Core standards and will help me meet my student's educational needs.
The very best thing about today’s experience is that one of my students told me that she is Native American too. I could see the pride in her face as she was telling me.
The performances by Leland were wonderful. He is very talented and was engaging for our 3rd-5th grade audience.
Leland Faulkner was fabulous – the kids really enjoyed the show and the teachers were impressed. Leland was so pleasant to work with. We will recommend him to the elementary schools next.
“We had Mr. Faulkner [perform Visions of Peace] approximately five years ago. We loved his program then and love his program now. One teacher commented to me that this program was as good as the "illusionist" we had years ago. Chuckling, I told her it was the same person. That's how good he is!”
“Many students and staff indicated it was the best program ever.”
